Sylvester Stallone stars as Lincoln Hawk, a struggling long-haul truck driver who has lived most of his life on the road. Years earlier, he left his wife Christina (Susan Blakely) and their young son Michael (David Mendenhall), due to pressure and disapproval from Christina’s wealthy father, Jason Cutler (Robert Loggia).
When Christina falls seriously ill, she asks Lincoln to pick up their now-teenage son from military school and bring him to see her before it’s too late. Michael, raised by his grandfather to resent his absent father, initially refuses to bond with Lincoln. The trip becomes a journey not just across America, but toward understanding and forgiveness.
As they travel in Lincoln’s truck, father and son slowly begin to connect. Lincoln teaches Michael about life on the road, discipline, and most importantly, arm wrestling — a skill Lincoln has mastered through years of competition at truck stops and small tournaments.
After Christina’s tragic death, Michael’s grandfather takes him away, determined to keep Lincoln out of his life forever. Heartbroken but determined to prove himself, Lincoln enters the World Armwrestling Championship in Las Vegas, where the grand prize is $100,000 and a brand-new semi-truck — enough to start his own business and win custody of his son.
Against overwhelming odds and stronger opponents, Lincoln battles through round after round, using his signature “over the top” move — a quick wrist shift that gives him leverage at critical moments. The final match becomes a symbol of his determination to rebuild his life and relationship with Michael.
In the emotional finale, Lincoln wins the championship, earns Michael’s respect, and drives off with his son toward a new beginning — proving that strength isn’t just physical, but comes from love, perseverance, and family.
