Cobra
Cobra follows Los Angeles police lieutenant Marion “Cobra” Cobretti, a hard-edged officer assigned to the Zombie Squad, a division that deals with the city’s most violent crimes. Known for his ruthless efficiency and minimal patience for bureaucracy, Cobretti believes criminals can only be stopped through decisive force. His aggressive methods frequently place him at odds with both his superiors and the media.
The film opens with a tense hostage situation inside a supermarket. While negotiators attempt to calm the armed suspect, Cobretti quickly intervenes and kills the gunman, ending the standoff but reinforcing his reputation as a controversial cop who operates on the edge of the law.
Soon afterward, Los Angeles is shaken by a series of brutal murders. The killings are linked to a secret cult-like organization that calls itself the “New Order.” This group believes society has grown weak and must be violently purified to create a new world dominated by strength. Their leader, known as the Night Slasher, orchestrates coordinated killings across the city.
The investigation intensifies when Ingrid Knudsen, a fashion model, accidentally witnesses one of the murders and becomes the cult’s primary target. Assigned to protect her, Cobretti places Ingrid under constant police guard. As the attacks grow more aggressive, it becomes clear the cult has far more members than the police initially suspected.
Realizing that Ingrid is in immediate danger, Cobretti relocates her outside the city. During their time together, the two develop a quiet bond. Beneath Cobretti’s stoic and intimidating exterior lies a man shaped by years of violence and isolation. Ingrid begins to see the humanity behind his hardened personality.
Meanwhile, the cult relentlessly hunts them down. Through investigation and confrontation, Cobretti uncovers the scale of the New Order’s network—an underground movement preparing to spread chaos and reshape society through mass violence.
The conflict reaches its climax at a steel factory where the cult members gather. Outnumbered but determined, Cobretti confronts the Night Slasher and his followers in a brutal showdown filled with gunfire and hand-to-hand combat. Using skill and relentless determination, Cobretti eliminates the attackers and finally defeats the Night Slasher.
With the cult destroyed, the immediate threat ends, though the battle has left its mark. Cobretti returns to duty much as he began—an outsider within the system, willing to confront dangers others avoid.
Cobra captures the gritty tone of 1980s action cinema, blending crime thriller elements with a vigilante-style hero whose uncompromising methods reflect a darker vision of justice.
