Shooter (2007) is an intense, fast-paced action thriller about betrayal, patriotism, and revenge — a modern American hero’s fight against corruption.

Bob Lee Swagger, a former U.S. Marine Corps sniper, is a decorated war veteran who left the military after being abandoned during a secret mission in Ethiopia, where his spotter was killed. Disillusioned and traumatized, Swagger now lives alone in the mountains with his dog, seeking peace far from the chaos of war.

One day, he’s approached by Colonel Isaac Johnson, a government official who claims to need his expertise to help prevent an assassination attempt on the President. Swagger agrees to study potential sniper locations, unaware that he’s being set up as a scapegoat.

During a public event, the Archbishop of Ethiopia is assassinated instead of the President, and Swagger is framed as the killer. Wounded and on the run, he becomes the target of a massive manhunt. The media brands him a terrorist, and corrupt officials close in to silence him permanently.

Using his survival skills, sharp intellect, and unmatched marksmanship, Swagger outsmarts his pursuers. Along the way, he’s aided by Nick Memphis, a young FBI rookie who begins to doubt the official story, and Sarah Fenn, the widow of Swagger’s late spotter. Together, they uncover a vast government conspiracy involving high-ranking officials, mercenaries, and illegal arms deals.

As Swagger digs deeper, he realizes the assassination was part of a larger cover-up of a U.S.-sanctioned massacre in Africa. Determined to expose the truth, he sets traps, uses long-range sniping, and takes down his enemies one by one in explosive, precision-driven action sequences.

In the climactic finale, Swagger confronts the corrupt Senator Meachum and Colonel Johnson, revealing evidence of their crimes. But knowing the system is rigged, he delivers his own justice — eliminating them to ensure they can never hurt anyone again.
