The story centers on Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey), a brilliant but morally conflicted geneticist recruited by the biotech giant Synsynth Labs. Alongside fearless expedition leader Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson) and veteran field operative Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali), Loomis is sent to a mysterious new island — Isle Saint-Hubert — in the Indian Ocean. The mission’s goal is to recover a rare strain of prehistoric DNA believed to hold the key to curing human heart disease.
Upon arrival, the team discovers that Synsynth has been secretly conducting illegal experiments, blending dinosaur genes to create hybrid species capable of surviving extreme environments. What begins as a scientific expedition quickly descends into a desperate fight for survival when the creatures escape containment. Among them is the terrifying “Tyrannus Rex Obscura”, a massive black-scaled predator with bioluminescent veins — a genetically engineered evolution of the original T-Rex.
As communications fail and the team is hunted one by one, tensions rise between Zora and Loomis over the ethics of their mission. Kincaid, haunted by his past as a military bioweapons operative, becomes the reluctant protector of the group. Meanwhile, Loomis discovers that Synsynth never intended to extract the DNA for medicine — their true goal is to weaponize the hybrids.
The climax unfolds in a thrilling sequence as the survivors race to destroy the island’s cloning facility before the hybrids can reach the mainland. In the final moments, Zora and Loomis narrowly escape via helicopter as Isle Saint-Hubert erupts in flames. However, a post-credits scene teases a surviving egg washing ashore, hinting that extinction — once again — may only be temporary.
