Bullet to the Head (2012)
Bullet to the Head is a gritty, fast-paced action thriller that follows the unlikely partnership between a veteran New Orleans hitman and a determined out-of-town detective as they hunt down a powerful criminal conspiracy.
Jimmy Bobo (Sylvester Stallone) is a hardened, old-school contract killer who has survived decades in the underworld by relying on his own ruthless code of honor. Along with his partner, Louis, Jimmy carries out a hit on a corrupt former police officer. But after completing the job, the two are double-crossed. A deadly, merciless mercenary named Keegan (Jason Momoa) suddenly appears and murders Louis, leaving Jimmy both furious and suspicious.

Meanwhile, detective Taylor Kwon (Sung Kang) arrives from Washington, D.C., investigating the same murdered ex-cop. His trail leads him to Jimmy, who saved Taylor’s life when Keegan attempts an ambush. Realizing they are after the same network of criminals, the two men — one a lawman, the other a criminal — form a tense alliance. Their partnership is filled with clashing philosophies: Jimmy believes in swift, brutal justice, while Kwon tries to enforce the law by the book. Despite their differences, both want revenge and answers.
Their investigation uncovers a web of corruption involving real-estate moguls, dirty cops, and a ruthless businessman named Morel (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). Morel is attempting to take over sections of New Orleans through intimidation, bribery, and violence, using Keegan as his unstoppable enforcer. Jimmy and Kwon fight their way through gang hideouts, sleazy bars, and criminal safehouses, gathering clues while surviving ambushes from Keegan’s men.
As the conspiracy unravels, Kwon is repeatedly frustrated by the local police, many of whom are corrupted or intimidated by Morel’s influence. Jimmy, however, uses his street connections — including help from his estranged daughter, Lisa, a tattoo artist — to track down Morel’s network.
The story builds toward a violent confrontation at an industrial facility where Morel plans to flee the city. Jimmy storms the location, killing Morel’s guards, while Kwon races to bring Morel in alive. Jimmy ultimately corners Morel and delivers justice his own way.
But the film saves its most memorable moment for the final battle: a brutal axe-fight between Jimmy and Keegan, fought with raw physical force and primal rage. Jimmy defeats Keegan in a decisive and symbolic showdown.
In the end, Kwon tries to arrest Jimmy, but Jimmy escapes, leaving Kwon a file containing Morel’s crimes. As he fades into the night, Jimmy reflects on his life, knowing he will continue living by his own unforgiving rules — a lone survivor in a corrupt world.
