Over the Top (1987)
Over the Top is an emotional action-drama starring Sylvester Stallone as Lincoln Hawk, a struggling long-haul truck driver trying to rebuild his relationship with his estranged son. He enters the World Armwrestling Championship in Las Vegas, where the winner receives $100,000 and a brand-new semi-truck—enough for Lincoln to start his own business and build a future with Michael. The tournament is filled with intimidating competitors, especially the monstrous reigning champion, Bull Hurley, who dismisses Lincoln as a nobody.
Meanwhile, Michael discovers letters Lincoln had sent him for years—letters his grandfather hid. Realizing his father never abandoned him, Michael escapes from Cutler’s mansion and rushes to Las Vegas to support Lincoln.
The final showdown is a brutal, high-tension match between Lincoln and Hurley. Using his signature “over the top” technique—a sudden hand-position shift—Lincoln overcomes the odds and wins the championship. As he embraces Michael, the prize money and new truck symbolize a fresh beginning.
